Me and my BFF

Oh, I know what some of y’all are thinking…but it’s not like that. I’m clearly and definitively the PARENT, but I feel that my role as mom has to include my role as her best friend. My sweet daughter doesn’t have a sister and it doesn’t look like she’ll be getting one, so I put a little extra time into doing things with her, alone, to make sure that she doesn’t miss out on NOT having a sister too much.

I work a lot, so I’m not the mom who plays with the dolls every day. I cannot take the place of her friends and thankfully, she has already made some really great friends. In the “Boy World” we live in (because we’re outnumbered), it’s important for us to steal away, just for a minute, to do mommy-daughter stuff.

My mom takes a lot of extra time with her too. I really appreciate her for making my baby feel special. Before COVID-19 hit, they would go shopping on the weekends, go get special treats together, and she would even spend the night at my parents’ house, without the boys. Since COVID-19 became our reality, I’ve had to take up the slack and do some extra things with my girl. It’s been a challenge trying to make this happen from home but we’ve come up with a few things to make sure we have our time.

One thing I’ve started doing that she loves is buying matching clothes. There’s really a lot of stuff out there for mommies and daughters. I was surprised at how much I found! We even subscribed to a mommy-daughter monthly matching subscription. The things I’ve found are reasonably-priced and in the grand scheme of things, it’s been a small sacrifice to bring a smile to her sweet face.

Our girls need us. They need to know that we love them, that we’re here for them and that they can count on us. In this cruel world, we have to fill them up with all the right stuff, so that they can be confident about who they are. If that makes me her bestie, it’s a title I’ll gladly take.

So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessing So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessings especially my family and y’all are a part of it. Since I started this blogger journey a few years ago, I’ve met so many amazing people and I’ve reconnected with friends I hadn’t seen or talked to in years. Thank y’all for connecting with me on the good days, the bad days and all the days in between. Just yesterday, I was so encouraged by a friend in this community. You never know who’s watching and you never know how you affect others.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I hope you had whatever kind of day you wanted to have today and that you found a few reasons to be truly thankful.
Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I usually buy family PJs a size bigger so that we can make it for 2 years with the same pjs, but who am I kidding? I’m a little obsessed and we just might end up with new ones. When I start focusing on our family’s financial goals, I’m like…run it back one more year! 🤣🤣🤣

Do y’all get new family pjs every year? Tag your favorite store to get them from.

And just know that the first 3 pics are because I’ve never posted them in all these years and they are sooooo cute. We showed up for the shoot with no pjs and had to wear the ones the photographer had, but I love these pics just the same. Kids grow up so fast. 💕😢🥰
Because when I make it successfully through Octobe Because when I make it successfully through October and plow on through to Thanksgiving, you can lock me up in somebody’s spa. That’s it. That’s the post.
Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laugh Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laughed this hard in quite a while. There is nothing like the HBCU experience, no place like The ‘Loo.

My feet hurt. It was beyond hot. And I’ve got to take my allergy meds, but I had a couple of uninterrupted, kid-free hours with some people I hold dear to my heart today. So no complaints here. Hail to thee…
