Medicine Ball Copycat Recipe

Hey friends! I’m a big-time allergy and sinus sufferer. One day, I stopped at Starbucks to get some hot tea and my barista misunderstood what I said. He asked if I wanted a medicine ball and I just said, “Yea.” I felt like anything called medicine could be beneficial because I felt terrible and being off of work was just not really an option on this particular day. So, I tried it and I loved it. No, it’s the flavor that had me. It was the fact that I literally felt better after I drank it. It’s very understandable why they call it a Medicine Ball. If you hang out with me long enough, you’ll learn that I don’t mind paying for things I find value in, so although we all know that Starbucks can break the bank over time, feeling better was worth the price.

So I went back a couple of times. All was well until my barista looked at me and said, “We don’t have any peppermint.” So I said, “Fine. Skip the peppermint and bring on the Medicine Ball.” It was cool. The next day I got another one just like it. I missed going for about a week and a half and then decided that I needed another one. To my surprise I got the “We don’t have the stuff we need to make the medicine ball.” And that was just it for me. I had to figure this out. Turns out that a little research plus a few answers to a few questions from a nice barista, mixed with a little “Mississippi Delta” tricks, and voila! You have yourself a decent medicine ball.

I cannot confirm that this is actually the recipe, but it works. First, you’ll need some good lemonade. You’re going to straight up heat it up just like you would heat up water for tea. Then you’ll need some lemons. We cannot make good tea without real lemons involved. Just squeeze some of the juice in there with the lemonade. My dad is from the Delta and lemons and peppermint are the first go-tos whenever there is a cold or allergy/sinus problem. Once your lemonade is steamy, you’ll need two different hot teas. They are both Teavana teas. You can get them at Target. I used Peach Tranquility and Jade Citrus Mint. Just know that Jade Citrus Mint has a little caffeine in it. I think you could absolutely sub it for any peppermint-based tea you like to get a decent outcome. After that I add in some local honey and a couple peppermints. It’s really that simple and it’s so good!

Whenever I post a story with me making tea, my friends always ask about my electric kettle. You can thank my tea-drinking daddy for this! He’s the reason I drink tea the way I do. I’m linking it and the teas here. You can order all of them and save yourself a trip to the store. A few months ago my niece was sick and she’s in college. A few clicks and her “Medicine Ball” was at her dorm.

Let me know if you try it!

Ingredients: lemonade, lemons, Jade Citrus Mint tea, Peach Tranquility Tea, honey, peppermints

So, my husband got sick and wanted a medicine ball. I went to Starbucks and they were out of the ingredients. I remembered this post and pulled up the recipe. I went to Target and got all of the ingredients. It was a success!!! Thanks for posting it.

So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessing So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessings especially my family and y’all are a part of it. Since I started this blogger journey a few years ago, I’ve met so many amazing people and I’ve reconnected with friends I hadn’t seen or talked to in years. Thank y’all for connecting with me on the good days, the bad days and all the days in between. Just yesterday, I was so encouraged by a friend in this community. You never know who’s watching and you never know how you affect others.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I hope you had whatever kind of day you wanted to have today and that you found a few reasons to be truly thankful.
Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I usually buy family PJs a size bigger so that we can make it for 2 years with the same pjs, but who am I kidding? I’m a little obsessed and we just might end up with new ones. When I start focusing on our family’s financial goals, I’m like…run it back one more year! 🤣🤣🤣

Do y’all get new family pjs every year? Tag your favorite store to get them from.

And just know that the first 3 pics are because I’ve never posted them in all these years and they are sooooo cute. We showed up for the shoot with no pjs and had to wear the ones the photographer had, but I love these pics just the same. Kids grow up so fast. 💕😢🥰

Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laugh Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laughed this hard in quite a while. There is nothing like the HBCU experience, no place like The ‘Loo.

My feet hurt. It was beyond hot. And I’ve got to take my allergy meds, but I had a couple of uninterrupted, kid-free hours with some people I hold dear to my heart today. So no complaints here. Hail to thee…
