My Mommy Makeup

Girlfriend! Let me tell you! In my college days, I wore makeup everyday. It wasn’t for any deep reason other than the fact that I watched my mom do her makeup every day for as long as I can remember AND when I turned 18 I became a Mary Kay consultant. I was my best business card, right?! So, I was on it. Fast forward to me starting my teaching career, getting married and having 3 kids in 4 years, the makeup had to go. I didn’t have time for it. I didn’t have space to do it. And at some point I didn’t even want to. I felt like if you see me with this double stroller, baby bag and wearing another baby, it should be very clear why I look like I just woke up. Clearly!

Well, I’ve been on a real quest to redefine KELLI, the new Kelli who works full time, is married and is a mommy. I feel like I don’t have to trade one for the other because they’re all a part of who I am. And KELLI wears makeup.

Now during the 5 years or so that I was “all-in” this mommy life, makeup evolved. It’s on a whole new level and I love it! I’m here for it! But I don’t have time to learn about it or do it. I beg my MUA friends to teach me all the time and I’m planning to have a “girls night out” with them really soon!

The key for me is taking care of your skin on a daily basis first, finding the right foundation or making it by mixing what works, and then doing the things that are important to YOU on top of the beautiful pallet the Lord already gave you. Then wash and repeat. What’s good for you may not be good for everybody, so you really have to do what works for you and makes you feel good…whether it’s “on trend” or not.

A friend of mine encouraged me to do a video after catching me several times “throwing me face on” in a hurry. You can see the video here:

I’m also linking all the products I use in this video just in case. Hopefully this will encourage someone to step on out there and do something for yourself that makes you feel beautiful! xoxo

So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessing So incredibly thankful for all of God’s blessings especially my family and y’all are a part of it. Since I started this blogger journey a few years ago, I’ve met so many amazing people and I’ve reconnected with friends I hadn’t seen or talked to in years. Thank y’all for connecting with me on the good days, the bad days and all the days in between. Just yesterday, I was so encouraged by a friend in this community. You never know who’s watching and you never know how you affect others.

Happy Thanksgiving, friends! I hope you had whatever kind of day you wanted to have today and that you found a few reasons to be truly thankful.
Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I Somebody said it’s #nationalfamilypjday Truth: I usually buy family PJs a size bigger so that we can make it for 2 years with the same pjs, but who am I kidding? I’m a little obsessed and we just might end up with new ones. When I start focusing on our family’s financial goals, I’m like…run it back one more year! 🤣🤣🤣

Do y’all get new family pjs every year? Tag your favorite store to get them from.

And just know that the first 3 pics are because I’ve never posted them in all these years and they are sooooo cute. We showed up for the shoot with no pjs and had to wear the ones the photographer had, but I love these pics just the same. Kids grow up so fast. 💕😢🥰
Because when I make it successfully through Octobe Because when I make it successfully through October and plow on through to Thanksgiving, you can lock me up in somebody’s spa. That’s it. That’s the post.
Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laugh Today was just good for my soul. I haven’t laughed this hard in quite a while. There is nothing like the HBCU experience, no place like The ‘Loo.

My feet hurt. It was beyond hot. And I’ve got to take my allergy meds, but I had a couple of uninterrupted, kid-free hours with some people I hold dear to my heart today. So no complaints here. Hail to thee…
